Fresh Almond Milk

Mix in Fresh homemade almond milk into your cereals and smoothies. Homemade almond milk can be much healthier than store bought almond milk, you are able to add healthy sweeteners and customize it with other superfood powders such as Cacao and add in nutrient rich ingredients.

Store bought vs Homemade

Until I did a little research, I didn’t know that companies had to enrich the almond they sell at the stores in order to fortify enough protein and calcium into the blend to get FDA approval.  Many companies mix a lot of sugars and water and just a little handful of almonds so you don’t get the nutrients you think you are getting from store bought nut milks.  The best is homemade because you know what you are getting.

For Almond milk we recommend using a high powered Blendtec blender because you can liquify the almond to a store bought consistency straight from the jar.  If you have a regular blender you need to buy a nut milk bag to strain the pulp.

Almonds are rich in biotin, and contain large amounts of Vitamin E, Manganese, Copper, Vitamin B2, phosphorus, magnesium, and molybdenum.

HoneyHoney is a sweet food made by bees using nectar from flowers. The variety produced by honey bees is the one most commonly referred to, as it is the type of honey collected by most beekeepers and consumed by people. Honey’s sweet taste comes from sugar, so it should be consumed in moderation. Honey does contains trace amounts of vitamins and minerals, and also antioxidants that have shown anti-inflammatory and to reduce homocysteine and bad cholesterol levels. Honey is a better choice of sweeteners than refined sugars – but even with natural nutritional benefits it is still a sweetener made primarily of fructose.

In Conclusion,

Homemade fresh almond milk is easy to do and is healthier than store bought because you are getting an enriched product that has to make up for the lack of protein and calcium with other sugars and additives.  You get to add in your own ingredients and customize it to your liking, make it the way you want it.  It’s good in the fridge for about 2 days.
