Blueberries

Blueberries are perennial flowering plants with indigo-colored berries from the section Cyanococcus within the genus Vaccinium. Blueberries contain ample amounts of Vitamin K, Vitamin C, manganese, and copper as well as high levels of antioxidants and phytonutrients. Blueberries are helpful for blood sugar regulation and weight management. They’ve been shown beneficial in fighting cancer and cardiovascular disease, and to have a positive effect on memory and cognition.

Chia Seeds

Salvia hispanica, commonly known as chia, is a species of flowering plant in the mint family, Lamiaceae, native to central and southern Mexico and Guatemala. Chia seeds are excellent sources of fiber, protein, antioxidants, and Omega-3 fatty acids. Chia seeds are high in calcium, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus. They help with gut motility and digestive health and have use in treating diabetes and stabilizing blood sugar.

Vanilla Extract

Vanilla is a flavor derived from orchids of the genus Vanilla. It contains compounds unique to vanilla – vanillic acid and vanillin which have strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Traditional cultures have long used it to stimulate the brain and senses.

Stevia

Stevia is a sweetener and sugar substitute extracted from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana. Stevia has zero calories, zero carbohydrates, and zero glycemic index – making it a safe sweetener for diabetics. Stevia is also up to 200 times more sweet than sugar, meaning a very small amount is used in recipes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Cumin Coriander Hummus Blender Recipe by Daphne Oz

Daphne Oz, daughter of Dr Oz and author of Relish: Food, Style, and Everyday Fun, created this recipe with snacking in mind. Snacks can easily become a part of a healthy lifestyle, rather than a hindrance to healthy habits. Hummus in particular is both delicious and loaded with nutrients. Low in calories and linked to a significant decrease in appetite; as a snack food, hummus really is one of your best options. Chickpeas are a fiber rich food that supports your digestive health, specifically supporting colon health and preventing colon cancer. The Daphne Oz Cumin Coriander Hummus Blender Recipe has an extra dose of cumin and coriander, both of which also work to optimize colon health. With a powerful blender like a Blendtec or a Vitamix, this dip is a simple recipe that comes together in seconds. When stored in an air tight container this dip can last for up to a week in the fridge, so it’s a great dip to make at the beginning of the week and enjoy all week long. Pair it with some of Daphne’s favorite vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, radishes, broccoli, cauliflower and snap peas. You’ll be in snacking heaven. For easy dips and easy blending we recommend the high powered Blendtec and Vitamix blenders.
