Pregnancy Smoothies

During her pregnancy the Pregnancy Smoothies was Daphne Oz’s favorite smoothies to start her day. She would typically throw this smoothie together at 5:30 am, and drink it on her way to the study to record The Chew. She loved it for two reasons. The first reason is that it’s quick to make, just throw the ingredients in a powerful blender like the Vitamix or the Blendtec blender and your breakfast is ready in no time.

The second reason she loves the pregnancy smoothies is because it is nutrient dense, and when you are growing a human inside you, your body needs all the fuel it can get. Pineapple, banana, and cherries create a tropical flavored treat. Yogurt provides a creamy base as well as calcium; it is recommended that most pregnant women consume 1,000 mg of calcium every day. The almond butter in this drink also provides calcium, as well as protein and healthy fats. Dark leafy greens are an excellent source of iron, another vital nutrient for pregnant women. Flax seed is essential for a vegetarian like Daphne Oz; it contains omega-3 fatty acids, vital for the visual and neurological development of a fetus. RECIPE INGREDIENTS
  1. 1/4 cup Frozen Pineapple
  2. 1/2 cup Frozen Banana
  3. 1/3 cup Frozen Cherries
  4. 1/3 cup Yogurt
  5. 3 stemmed, chopped Kale leaves
  6. 2 tsp Almond Butter
  7. 2 tbsp Lime Juice
  8. 1 tbsp Flax Seeds
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
      1. 1. Put all ingredients in your blender jar.
      1. 2. Blendtec blender: Press the Whole Juice button, or let the blender run on a high speed for around 1 minute or until liquified.
      1. 3. Vitamix blender: Turn the knob to Whole Juice and flip the on switch. If you don’t have the automatic preset then start on speed 1/low, slowly turn the knob to speed 10, then flip it to high. Let it run for around 1 minute.
    1. 4. Pour into two tall, frosty glasses.

Pineapple

Cherries support healthy sleep and can prevent headaches and migraines.

Greek Yogurt

Yogurt is a food produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. Yogurt, like all dairy products should always be consumed in whole fat, grass fed, organic, plain style. Yogurt is high in protein, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B2, iodine, phosphorus, calcium, and molybdenum. It is also a great source of probiotic bacteria including L. Acidophilus and B. Bifidum strains.

Kale

Kale is a vegetable with green or purple leaves in the wild cabbage family. Kale is a stockpile of nutritional and medicinal qualities.
