Bobby Flay Immunity-Boosting Smoothie
- ½ cup – 1½ cups filtered cold water
- 2 cups loosely packed chopped organic kale
- ¼ cup chopped organic cilantro (include stems and leaves)
- 1 large organic Honeycrisp apple, cored and cut into chunks
- 3 Tablespoons chopped fresh ginger
- ¼ small beet, cut into chunks
- 1 medium very ripe frozen banana, cut in half
- 1 ripe Fuyu persimmon, cut into chunks
- Juice of 1 large lemon
- Add water into the blender. While the blender is in the off position, add the kale and the cilantro, followed by the apple, ginger and beet. Put the banana and persimmon on top and finish with the lemon juice.
- Put the blender lid securely in place, and puree the ingredients until completely smooth. Add more water as necessary to reach desired consistency.
- Blendtec Blender: Using your Blendtec press the smoothie button and let it run, if you want to manually make it then start on speed 1 or speed 3 until all the ingredients catch, then increase to higher speeds for a smooth consistency
- Vitamix Blender: If you have a newer Vitamix-blender then use the automatic smoothie setting! If you have an older Vitamix or want to blend manually then start on speed 1/low and slowly increase to speed 10/high. Use the Tamper if needed. Blend until smooth.
- Regular Blender: Blend in segments to make sure to get a good consistency. For example, blend your green vegetables, then blend your fruits, and then mix in your ice, this will allow the blender to blend everything easier. Start on slow speeds and let the blender work those ingredients in and then increase to a higher speed for a smooth consistency.
