Sleep is one of the most important, and often neglected, aspects of whole body health. Your body repairs itself while you are sleeping, and studies have shown that weigh maintenance is easier for people who get plenty of sleep. In her book Relish Daphne Oz provides several tips to achieving a better night of rest, like using lavender oil to scent a room and dimming lights an hour before bed to create a calming environment. Additionally she has created this Sweet Dreams Smoothie Blender Recipe, a powerful night time drink that combines three of the most common remedies for sleep; warm milk, bananas, and honey. Milk and bananas both contain tryptophan, an amino acid that converts into serotonin to help your body drift off into healthy sleep rhythms. Raw honey is an effective carb to aid in the reception of tryptophan in the brain. A splash of vanilla and a tiny bit of cinnamon create a mild, but pleasant, flavor. Blend together these simple ingredients in your blender and sleep will find you in no time. The Daphne Oz Sweet Dreams Smoothie Blender Recipe is best made in a high powered Blendtec or Vitamix blender because of the nice smoothie consistency you’ll get.
