Gwyneth Paltrow Spicy Healthy Hot Sriracha Sauce Recipe
Healthy Hot Sriracha Sauce Recipe by Gwyneth Paltrow
1 1/4 cup peeled garlic cloves
1 pound red jalapeños
2 1/4 cups rice wine vinegar
1/4 cup brown rice syrup
2 tablespoons coarse sea salt
1 tablespoon arrowroot
2 tablespoons fish sauce (or soy sauce for a vegan variety) [/su_box]
- 1. Put the garlic cloves in a small saucepan and add cold water just to cover. Bring to a boil, immediately drain, cool the garlic under running water, and return to the saucepan. Cover with cold water and repeat the blanching process. Thinly slice the blanched garlic and combine with jalapeños and vinegar in a larger pot. Bring to a boil, cook for 3 minutes, and remove from heat. Add the brown rice syrup and salt and stir to combine. Let the mixture sit undisturbed for 1 hour to steep and cool.
- 2. Put the mixture in your blender jar.
- 3. Blendtec blender: Press the Whole Juice button, or let the blender run on a high speed for around 1 minute or until smooth.
- 4. Vitamix blender: Turn the knob to Whole Juice and flip the on switch. If you don’t have the automatic preset then start on speed 1/low, slowly turn the knob to speed 10, then flip it to high. Let it run for around 1 minute until smooth.
- 5. Return the pureed sauce to the pot, bring to a boil, lower the heat, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, skimming off any foam, until the sauce is slightly reduced and has some body.
- 6. In a small bowl, dissolve the arrowroot with 1 tablespoon of lukewarm water.. Whisk into the simmering sauce and cook for 2 minutes more, or until the sauce is nicely thickened (it should be slightly thinner than ketchup). Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, and stir in the fish sauce. Store in a screw-top jar or bottle in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.
This condiment tastes delicious and adds spice to so many foods! A spicy, smokey, garlic blend, it pairs well with pizza, eggs, pasta, steamed vegetables, the list just goes on and on!

Sriracha sauce is a delicious smokey, garlic, sauce with just enough spice. Understandably, Gwyneth Paltrow, like many people, loves to put it on almost everything. Unfortunately, the store bought variety of sriracha sauce is full of chemicals. Luckily she has discovered a recipe for a version that is chemical free, and still just as tasty as the original, and more nutritious to boot! In fact, chili peppers have been shown to have some amazing benefits. In addition to preventing cancer, chili peppers are also excellent decongestants, helping to fight colds and allergies. Eating a little hot chili sauce can really open up your sinuses and provide temporary relief from nasal congestion. Easily blend up these ingredients in your Blendtec or Vitamix blender, and leave the chemical store bought variety on the shelf.
