Maca Benefits and Maca Side Effects – Superfood Health

maca, maca benefits, maca health benefits, maca superfood, super foods, superfood, health benefits,[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]What is Maca?

Maca powder is made from a root that is a member of the radish family. Maca is native to the mountains of Peru, and is often called “Peruvian Ginseng” because of its stimulating qualities and its many Maca health benefits.

Though native Incans once ate the root raw for its health Maca benefits, Maca should be cooked properly before being consumed. Eating raw Maca can upset the stomach or irritate the stomach lining and then you will have Maca Side Effects. However, the root can usually be purchased as already cooked and processed as Maca capsule or Maca powder. Before mixing the Maca-powder into a smoothie or adding it to your diet, try the Maca powder to make sure you like its taste! Many say that maca root does not taste very good, and has been referred to as tasting like dirt or grass. Additionally, be sure to check what a standard dose of maca root is before consuming the powder. Standard doses vary from 1500 to 3000 mg, depending on your bodyweight.

Benefits of Maca

Maca powder is known for many health benefits. Historically, ancient Incan cultures cultivated the root and used it in natural remedies. The Maca root contains high levels of protein, iron, iodine, calcium, potassium, and fiber.  Maca is also rich in vitamins and minerals, and has high levels of vitamin B, vitamin C, and vitamin E. It’s also a good source of zinc, magnesium, phosphorous, and amino acids.

One of the main benefits of Maca is increased sexual function for men and women, as well as boosted fertility. Incan cultures used the Maca root to boost male libido and sexual stamina. For women, it can also relieve menstrual problems such as cramps and mood swings, and help with menopause. One of the chemicals in the root also has been found to lessen hot flashes in intensity and frequency. Men, on the other hand, find that their sperm production is increased when using Maca supplements.

Maca root is also great for supplementing athletic exercise. The root also is thought to improve endurance, as well as apparently increasing testosterone. This in combination with its super food status makes Maca an ideal food for athletes. Additionally, Maca benefits have been found to reduce stress hormones, which pairs well with athletic exercise.

Maca powder can also improve your skin’s health. In both men and women, maca use has been linked with decreased acne and clearer skin. Additionally, in winter or drier summers, Maca has the added benefit of protecting your skin against more extreme temperatures.

Finally,

Maca powder is an essential supplement for mental health. The root can increase the body’s serotonin, which fights mild depression and the symptoms that come with that (including fatigue and weight gain.) Others cite the powder as improving mentality clarity and improving focus. Using maca-superfood-powder in your diet can improve your mood, fight stress, and just plain make you feel better!

Maca Side Effects

If you are pregnant or breast feeding there is not enough information on maca-side-effects, so experts are saying to avoid use; moreover, different types of hormone-sensitive conditions such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, or breast cancer should be avoided or consulted by a professional first before use. Maca extracts might act like estrogen so if you have a condition that may be affected or worsened by estrogen, don’t use Maca.

Overall, there are very few Maca side effects and if you don’t mind the unusal taste of maca root, then maca superfood powder will improve your overall health greatly! Try maca root powder mixed with chocolate in a smoothie, granola bar, or desert, or you can use it for baking.

Hey Theresa, sneaking in vegetables for the kids is a big perk to owning a Blendtec Blender. You can get creative and mix in greens in all your recipes. So I watched both ice cream and carrot water blend off and both times you favored blend tech !

I notice you have a relationship with blend tech !

It seemed it came down to your personal taste, hmm it looks a little questionable because you get something from blend Tech.

You also mention their is a wild side jar for Vitamix , why don’t you test them both with wild side so it’s apples. To apples.

I’ve seen a lot of demos were it was setup to favor one!

    Best Regards
    Rich Sokol

PS I’m retired don’t have any ties , just looking for best for me!

    • Frank Musa says:

Hey Soko, we have a relationship with all of the blender companies on the videos, so we don’t favor any in particular, any which way you go you will be bettering your health.
